App Permissions

Photo/media/files, external storage

Some of our apps come with audio pre-installed, others have no audio, others may be made that need to download audio before you can listen to scripture. Apps that download audio need access to storage space or a memory card to store it for this to work.

Some of our apps may be built with the capability to share the entire app to another device via a bluetooth connection. To do this, it must write a copy of the app to file storage space or a memory card before it can be shared. We do not recommend installing apps from untrusted sources, however apps with this capability enable the app to be shared even in remote places, where wifi or mobile data are unavailable or too expensive, and some people find this very useful.

Internet access

Downloading audio and sending crash reports or analytics data (see privacy policy below) require internet access.

Permissions control

Recent versions of Android allow you to give or remove any of the above permissions to apps via the settings menu. You may use these controls to give or refuse our apps the above-mentioned permissions.

Privacy policy (Mobile phone apps)

We (ashunledevles.eu.org) publish some scripture apps in the Romani language in association with Wycliffe Bible Translators. This policy is to help you understand what data we collect as a result of you installing or using scripture apps published by us, and what we do with that data.

If you install from the Google Play Store, it can tell us how many apps are installed or uninstalled in what country. Otherwise we have no idea if the apps are being used at all unless the app tells us (a process Google call analytics).

Our Scripture apps do not collect any information that could identify you as an individual, (called Personally Identifyable Information - PII. PII includes things like a unique ID that, when combined with other data, would point to you. We do not collect such things). We will never track where you go physically or on-line. Our apps do not attempt to access your precise location, address book, photos, list other apps or any other personal data that may be on your phone or other device.

If analytics for the app is enabled (see below) and the device is connected to the internet, the app will connect from time to time to send usage information to a Google Analytics account. If the app does not connect to the internet, the analytic data is not collected.

Our Scripture apps that use analytics may collect the following type of non-personally identifiable information:

These apps use analytics (or may do soon):

These apps do not use analytics:

We will never sell or trade the data generated from our apps or from any direct interaction that you have with us. We will only use it so that we can understand if, how and where the apps are being used. We will occasionally summarize the information further (to number of users in different countries) and pass it on to encourage the copyright-owners of the translation and those who have worked on and supported the long hard work of Bible translation.

Crash reporting

If you send us crash reports, e.g. generated by your phone's operating system, they will only be used to help us and the developers of the frameworks / libraries the apps use to improve the app. So far, we have not been able to confirm that these never contain PII. We hope they do not, and if they do we will always do our utmost to protect your anonymity (deleting or replacing the PII if possible). If you email a crash report, and we need to pass it on to other developers, we will remove your email address and attempt to remove any other PII from any message that we pass on.

We will never change the intent of policies marked as never or always, but we may need to improve the wording. If we need to improve, modify or update our privacy policy we will alter this page and modify the date below. The main version of the policy is in English

The privacy policy was last updated May 7, 2020.
